OUR MANDATE

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

-Matthew 28:18-20

OUR FOUNDING SCRIPTURE

The Fellowship of the Believers

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

-Acts 2:42-47

OUR LEAD/VISIONARY ELDERS

Meet Dan and Chantelle Barnard, they have 3 kids, Nadine, Amy and Josh. Dan and Chantelle are based in the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

Dan has been in the business-world all his life, as Director and CEO of large corporate companies in South Africa. Dan had a radical encounter with Jesus that changed his life completely.

Chantelle has been his helper and support since their marriage in February 1997.

In 2014, God called Dan and Chantelle into full-time ministry and in November 2015 they took over their first church in Swakopmund, Namibia. In August 2016, they were prayed onto the NCMI Team led by Tyrone Daniels.

In March 2017, God called them to lead another church in Stanger, KZN, South Africa.

Dan and Chantelle currently lead both churches Destiny Life Church Swakopmund and Destiny Life Church Stanger.

Leading both churches are made easier with the help of a team of Elders and with the help of technology they are able to Live-stream to Swakopmund during Sunday morning Services.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Mission Statement

As a Church, We Believe in:

  1. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament in their original form as fully inspired by God, and accepts them as the final authority for faith and life.

  2. In one God eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. That the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man.

  4. That God created man in His own image; that man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death; physical and spiritual; and that all human beings inherit a sinful nature which issues in actual transgression involving personal guilt.

  5. That Scripture allows, with regards to sexual behaviour, only heterosexual relationships between a natural man and natural women and only in the confines of lawful matrimony. (Hebrews 13:4; Ephesians 5:22-23; Romans 1:24-27)

  6. That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutionary sacrifice, according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe and trust in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.

  7. In the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.

  8. In the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  9. In the personality of the Holy Spirit, His regenerating work, and His abiding presence in the true believer. That the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers and that He has been sent to be the Comforter and Helper of the Christian Church, to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit and exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures.

  10. All who repent of their sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and therefore become children of God.

  11. That all Christians are called to a life of holiness, devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and service to Him.

  12. In the resurrection, both just and unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and the eternal banishment from God of those who have rejected the offer of salvation.

  13. That the whole company of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, been redeemed by Him and regenerated by the Holy Spirit form the one true church, and that the local church on earth should take its character from this concept. Therefore, the new birth and personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of Church Membership.

  14. In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  15. In the Priesthood of all believers.

  16. That the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances – Baptism and the Lord’s Table – to be observed as acts of obedience and as a perpetual witness to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith; that Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection, and that the Lord’s Table involves partaking of the bread and the cup as symbols of the Saviour’s broken body and shed blood, in remembrance of His sacrificial death till His return.

  17. That the healing of the sick is still available in our day. (Mark 16:16-18; Matthew 8:16-17; 1 Corinthians 12:9 and James 5:14-15).

  18. That God never removed the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the Church, and that the Scriptural commands to “seek earnestly the best gifts” and to “forbid not to speak in tongues” are still applicable today. (1 Corinthians 12, 13 and 14…. Note 1 Cor. 14:1 and 39)

  19. That the ascended Christ has given various ministries or ministers to the Church in order to bring all believers to the place of Christian maturity in understanding of the truth, and the performance and function of the ministry. (Ephesians 4:11; Romans 12:4-8; and 1 Cor 12:10)

  20. That the miracles recorded in the Bible were real miracles, and are possible in the present day. (John 14:12 and 1 Cor 12:10)

  21. That all believers are called to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20)

  22. That Christ is the Head of His body, The Church, and that in all things He has pre-eminence.

  23. That all believers are called to love God above all else and their neighbours as themselves. In loving God, they are to enjoy, exalt and worship Him. (Matt 22:37-39)

As a Church, We Believe in:

Destiny life Swakopmund

Our History

Destiny Life Church, Swakopmund, was founded in August 2007. In April 2008 the first leaders were Graham and Careen Moreland, and the church was named New Covenant Church.

In 2015, the name was changed to His Family Church.

In November 2015, the Leadership changed to Dan and Chantelle Barnard, who are the current Lead/Visionary Elders leading the church with a Team of Elders.

Under the New Leadership the church has since grown and a new name was decided upon in May 2019:

Destiny Life Church Swakopmund

Our Future

For the last 12 years, the church has moved from venue to venue all over Swakopmund, without a steady place to stay.

We believe that God has called this church to be a base church to raise leaders up and to send them out.

We are looking for land to build our own building and to have a place called Home.

Destiny life Stanger

Our History

Destiny Life Church, Stanger, started in September 1988 as Covenant Christian Fellowship under George and Sue Jones' leadership.

In December 1993, the leadership changed to Kenny and Maureen Le Roux.

In November 2002, the leadership changed to Tinus and Ansie Potgieter and the name was changed to Eagles View Church. The church purchased a piece of land in Gledhow, Stanger, Kwa-Zulu Natal, in 2001 and building commenced in 2002. The church then became a site church under Destiny Life Church Ballito (now known as Encounter Church).

In March 2017, the current Lead/Visionary Elders, Dan and Chantelle Barnard, took over the church leadership and it became an Autonomous church led by an eldership team.

Our Future

Plans have been drafted for the Expansion of the current church building, from a 200 seater to a 700 seater church, with Offices and a dedicated Children's Ministry area.

We believe that God has called Our Church to be a base church to raise leaders and to send them out.

NCMI

Who is NCMI?

NCMI is a trans-local ministry team, with an apostolic heart, that is comprised of men and women who, through partnership, help pastors/elders build their local churches to equip and mobilize believers for the fulfillment of the work of the Kingdom and the discipling of the nations. Pastors, churches, and individuals from more than 100 countries around the world are partnering with NCMI, embracing an apostolic-prophetic model to participate in the various opportunities for envisioning, encouragement, training, and church planting.

Check out NCMI.net for details.

Partnering with NCMI

In a larger context, we partner with New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI), a trans-local ministry team with an apostolic heart that is comprised of men and women who, through partnerships based on friendship, help pastors / elders build their local churches in doing the work of Jesus Christ’s Kingdom in their areas and also provide opportunities for churches to bring the Gospel to regions beyond their own borders.

Working into the Nations

Throughout our history we’ve always connected and partnered with the team of New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) and we continue to do so. The NCMI team is a team of friends to us. We’re not a denomination and the elders govern our church pastorally.
